2016 – 2018 | Senior Project Engineer

Energy Solutions International (ESI) is a company specializing in pipeline monitoring and leak detection solutions for midstream oil and gas operators. Following my time at Wood, ESI provided an opportunity to apply pipeline monitoring expertise in a project engineering capacity across multiple client deployments.

Role & Responsibilities​

  • Delivered single-phase pipeline leak detection system implementations for multiple energy clients, owning configuration, calibration, and commissioning through to handover.
  • Developed Excel VBA automation tools that eliminated manual configuration steps, reducing project setup time and minimizing errors across deployments.
  • Mentored junior engineers in system configuration and project delivery methodology, raising team output quality.

Takeaway​

ESI reinforced the value of automation in engineering workflows. The VBA tools I built to accelerate project delivery were an early signal toward what became a career shift into software engineering — recognizing that the right tooling can multiply team output far beyond what manual processes allow.
